BRUNSWICK – While business at Donut Land has remained booming, owner Amanda Rienerth said the operation desperately needs more space.
“We are at maximum capacity in this space,” Amanda said. “All our food stations are very small, and we are renting a storage unit that sits outside of our building because we don’t have space for storage inside our building. We haven’t been able to make our brownies, muffins or kolackies for a while because we don’t have the room. We can usually handle orders with 24 hours notice but for the busier holidays, we sometimes have to make the cutoff earlier because we are at capacity.”
Since taking the helm at the family-owned enterprise in late 2021, Rienerth has dramatically expanded the donut shop’s visibility, production, and staff required to fill the active flow of weekly orders. Following the passing of her grandfather Bill Reinerth, she has continued the company legacy and is preparing for the next phase with the renovation of a commercial building.

Massive expansion to 12,000 square-foot-home in Brunswick
After a few years of searching for a new space, Amanda closed on the purchase of the former Rite Aid building (3821 Center Road) in early in 2026.
“Our current space is about 2,000 square feet and this new space will be 12,000 square feet so that will leave us with some room to grow,” she said. “But even in the beginning, we will be utilizing a lot of the space.”
Amanda said construction is moving smoothly and is expected to be completed in June.

“Once construction is done, we will have to close this location and transfer everything to the new space before we reopen so that will probably take a week or two,” she said. “I have been estimating we will be open in the new space by July, but as we get closer to that time, I can nail down more specific dates and will let people know on social media.”
Amanda explained that operating at the new location is Phase 1 of the new plans for Donut Land.

Plans include drive thru, meeting room, and more employees
When Rienerth first set up shop on Pearl Road, the Donut Land space was a free-standing building with floor to ceiling windows.
“After about a year or two in business, he put up a brick wall and eventually the owner of the property connected the buildings to make a strip mall,” Amanda said. “He had two opportunities over the years to purchase the strip mall. I think later, he looked at that as a missed opportunity where he could have owned his building instead of leasing all these years.”
Once Donut Land moves to the new space, Amanda said she will likely need to hire more employees.
“It’s going to be hard to judge how many more employees we need at first because this larger space is going to make us so much more efficient,” she said. “We have already expanded a lot. Currently we have about 38 employees and when I took over in 2019, we had 12.”
Amanda said she is excited to be able to offer vintage favorites like Donut Land’s brownies, muffins and kolackies once the shop is in the new space. She said Donut Land will continue to operate 24 hours a day in the new space as well.
“I think there are a lot of customers who would like that chance to walk through the shop one more time…”Amanda Rienerth
“We will likely be 24 hours six days a week in the summer though,” she said.
Before the big move, Amanda said she hopes to offer one last walk through of the old shop.
“I think there are a lot of customers who would like that chance to walk through the shop one more time,” she said. “Then we will plan a grand opening at our new location.”
