MEDINA COUNTY, OHIOMedina County Treasurer John Burke announced that 67,566 second half 2025 property tax bills will be mailed to county property owners Thursday August 6th. The total dollar amount of real estate taxes billed for the second half is $204,658,816. The official payment due date for these tax bills is August 28, 2026.

Treasurer Burke said the delay in producing and mailing the 2nd half tax bills was caused by the new Ohio tax law changes which required the County Auditor to make computer software changes to accurately calculate the tax amounts. All eighty eight counties in Ohio experienced a delay in getting property tax bills out this time.

According to Treasurer Burke the major tax law change was the inflation cap credit. This change affected six of Medina County’s eight school districts which were under the “20 mill floor” and included Black River, Brunswick, Buckeye, Cloverleaf, Highland School Districts and the Career Center. Those schools under the 20-mill floor received over $14 million in higher (unvoted) property tax revenue this year with the increase in property values from the County Auditor’s reappraisal last year. House Bill 186 capped that tax increase to the rate of inflation.

This inflation cap credit calculated by the County Auditor and applied to the 2nd half tax bills will credit back $5.5 million dollars to taxpayers in those school districts affected. Burke said this credit dollar amount will be labeled as “Inflation Cap Credit” on the tax bill.
